Gene Kirila, President and Founder, Trep Systems
I am extremely passionate about enTREPreneurs living the life they deserve. I am an advocate for enTREPreneurs and small business owners.
Where I’ve Been.
From starting my first business at age twenty, to growing ideas into $100 million-dollar companies- I’ve been involved in multiple businesses from both investment and operations standpoints. After twenty years and $20 million in professional fees, I feel that “the system is broken” particularly for the enTREPreneur and small business owner. My mother and father were both great enTREPreneurs, they each had over twenty-five years as successful small business owners, but also faced several challenges as the “experts” were not truly experienced in small business management and succession created stormy water.
How I Got There.
My interests in: reading, business, engineering, and manufacturing- stem from a very young age. In high school I injured my back, so I built my own rehabilitation units. I attended Youngstown State University to play football. At the ripe age of twenty, in our family barn, I started my first business in the fitness industry. I sold my first business at age twenty-nine for $ millions. After thirty years in business- I grew frustrated and disgusted by “the system” and my empathy for the enTREPreneur and small business owner fighting the system has catapulted me to take action. I realized that the world of professionals/consultants/experts want to be paid for time and hope for results. TREP produces results, then enTREPreneurs will share pay for performance. With a mission to revolutionize enTREPreneurship and small businesses- I founded my 4th revolution, TREP Systems in 2007.
Where I’m From.
From the farm fields and steel mills of Northwestern PA – where enTREPreneurship has been at the heart of the industrial revolution that built America.
Something About Me.
I’ve hunted and fished world class game. I’ve owned the best “Big Boy Toy Box.” I’ve architected and customized a 100-acre estate that I enjoyed with my family for 30 years (during my acquiring stage). Now I’m in living in a downtown Pittsburgh skyscraper (and I’m in the giving-back stage). Dollar for dollar- I’ve found that enTREPreneurship is the most powerful engine on earth. I have four children and a wife (who I’ve chased since we were twelve years old). I’m enjoying my freedom as an enTREPreneur and excited to share other enTREPreneurs how they can do the same.
